Supplier Quality Engineer
- Audit suppliers' processes, parts, and performance, including ISO/TS audits, to ensure specification-meeting parts and/or assemblies are delivered to BRP.
- Advise and assist suppliers and BRP personnel in the control and improvement of prints and processes to ensure part quality.
- Meet plant metrics by calculating defect rates and reducing the supplier Defects Per Unit (DPU).
- Monitor and track supplier data through ERP systems to carry out improvement/problem solving activities.
Supplier Quality Support: Problem solving activities using DMAIC, DOE etc., prepare problem definitions, submit/request Supplier Corrective Action Report (SCAR) requests, support with APQP process and also perform PPAP for suppliers, negotiate the disposition of non-conforming parts with Suppliers, and work with Suppliers to facilitate the resolution of SCARs.
- Machining and Assembly Support: participate in the cross-functional review of process potential failure modes and effects analysis (process pFMEA); validation of control plan effectiveness; torque recipe development for critical bolted joints; process audits; ECN readiness; statistical process control (SPC); internal corrective action reports.
- Use ERP System to Report Balanced Score Card (BSC) metrics for suppliers and facilitate actions to address gaps.
- Execute all SQE responsibilities pertaining to NPD Projects, including ensuring complete, accurate, and value-adding deliverables per schedule.
- Complete supplier/vendor evaluations to approve suppliers.
- Complete assigned actions to support strategic initiatives.
- Create visual standards for incoming products such as fiberglass, furniture, etc.
- Use, control, and improve Quality Management System (QMS) documentation.
- Establish and lead the Incoming Inspection Process and also recruit and train Quality Inspectors and Quality Liaisons.
- Participate in various continuous improvement workshops to improve overall performance of the individual and the organization.
- Occasional trips to visit U.S. suppliers. Travel will comprise about 25% of the individual’s time.
Requirements: B.S. degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 3 years experience as Supplier Quality Engineer, Advance Quality Engineer, Advance Supplier Quality Engineer, or related. The required 3 years of experience must include the following, which may have been gained concurrently with each other:
- AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) certification as Lead Auditor.
- One year experience creating visual criteria – Standards for Marine Fiber Glass Parts and Marine Upholstered furniture.
- Must have performed multiple PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) approvals for Glass, Electrical, Machined components & Supplier relocation.
- Must have reduced DPUs (Defect Per Units) over a period of 1 year to comply with company goals and standards.
- One year experience evaluating & auditing suppliers for New Supplier Approval.
- One year experience establishing and leading supplier corrective action processes and must have validated to close at least 15 SCARs (Supplier Corrective Action Reports).
- One year experience using problem solving methodologies including DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve & Control) & DOE (Design of Experiments) to address and solve high level problems.
- One year experience recruiting and training quality inspectors and/or quality liaisons for offsite inspection locations (supplier).
- Must have participated in a minimum of 2 ISO/TS (International Organization for Standardization/Technical Specification) Audits.
- One year experience using Product Data Tracking systems for use in problem-solving activities.
- One year experience using ERP system to generate supplier score cards for suppliers.
