Foster Care Family Support Worker
Non-benefited vacancy in the Department of Social & Youth Services, 15 hours per week position that includes after school hours and some evening and weekend hours. Coordinate, develop, implement, and evaluate support services for DCF involved children living in Bloomfield with foster families, relative guardians or grandparents.. Participate in team focused and strengths based delivery of programs and services that support positive involvement in the community, promote personal character and life skills development, and provide opportunities to enhance social skills and interpersonal relationships.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social work or related discipline & a minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and families in a community based setting. Applicants must have effective leadership, time management, organizational skills and strong case management, crisis intervention and advocacy skills. Experience in collaboration and advocacy with other youth and family serving agencies and providers. Experience with DCF involved children and families, preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experienced in working with diverse populations. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Basic First Aid and CPR certification required and a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
Selection Process

Examinations may include written, oral, physical, or performance tests or any combination of the various types of examinations. Offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory results on a background check, verification of information on the employment application, pre-employment physical, drug testing, DCF background, state and federal criminal history and background investigation, including fingerprints.
