The Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District is looking to fill one position for Air Pollution Control Specialist. The position will be located in Grass Valley. Starting salary is dependent upon applicant's experience. The position must perform administrative and technical working all three areas of air quality tasks, such as: compliance program activities, permitting activities, grant programs, air monitoring, data processing, outreach and education, air quality program planning activities, and perform related work as required.
DEFINITION
Under general supervision, to perform a variety of assignments to provide information and assistance with respect to inquiries and questions concerning the assigned area of air pollution control and related compliance; performing a variety of enforcement, compliance, air monitoring, and public educational duties, where assigned; and to perform related work as required. Works out of either the Grass Valley Office or the Portola Office.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Air Pollution Control Specialist I: This is the entry level class. Incumbents are expected to work under supervision on their area of assignment, which requires background and experience in air pollution control, and related District, State, and federal rules and regulations. Must be able to follow procedures, work semi-independently, deal well with the public and industry, and conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
Air Pollution Control Specialist II: This is the journey level class in the professional series. The class II differs from the class I in that incumbent are given a full range of assignments are expected to work with a high degree of independence, with supervision available from the Air Pollution Control Officer. Possesses a more complete understanding of all applicable federal, state, and local air quality rules and regulations. Has the skills and abilities to assist in some air quality engineering tasks.
Air Pollution Control Specialist III: This is an advanced journey level class in the professional series. The class III differs from the class II in that incumbents are given a full range of assignments in difficult and highly specialized areas which requires mastery of substantial technical knowledge and skills with a high degree of independence. Possesses a thorough understanding of all applicable federal, state, and local air quality rules and regulations. Has the skills and abilities to assist in many air quality engineering tasks.
