Transmission Engineer

In the Transmission Engineer role, the following activities are performed:
Perform transmission line design for OTP’s 41.6, 69, 115, 230, and 345 kV systems to improve reliability of the transmission system.
Collaborate with other areas of the company for the following:
1. Capital budgets
- Develop cost Estimates
- Provide design quantities and details for estimating and bidding purposes.
2. Managing transmission projects
- Travel to all parts of the system to meet Field Crews/Contractors
- Provide Construction Documents such as P&P’s, Staking Sheets and stringing charts and project specifications.
- Balancing the schedule of multiple projects based on prioritization and material lead time
3. Transmission standards
- Work with Standards Engineer to ensure construction follows OTP’s standards.
4. Structure Design
- Design and approve self-supporting wood and steel structures drawings.
- Acquire soils borings as needed for designs.
- Issue PO’s and receive for structures.
To be successful in this role, a bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering or sufficient work experience in Transmission line design. Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code as well as American Society of Civil Engineers standards is beneficial with this position. Experience with PLS Cad and Microsoft suite products is beneficial.
