LaPorte CPAs & Business Advisors, one of the region's fastest growing and respected CPA firms is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Proposal/Business Writer in our Marketing Department. The position may be based remotely or in any of our five office locations: Metairie, LA; Houston, TX; Baton Rouge, LA; Covington, LA; and Houma, LA. This is an independent contractor role that will be expected to work approximately 20-40 hours per week.

As a valued member of the Marketing team, the writer will manage writing projects related to the firm. We want a writer who thinks strategically in order to meet project highest objectives. Major responsibilities of the position include:


  • Review RFPs/RFQs to facilitate development of proposal
  • Meet with appropriate personnel to obtain necessary information
  • Gather background on new business prospects, as needed
  • Gather information as defined in RFP then develop, write, and edit proposals
  • Create unique and/or prospect-focused content in response to individual situations/requests
  • Manage information spreadsheets used for proposal
  • Manage the majority of the written proposal process
  • Update proposal report for monthly


  • Using blog questionnaire submissions and supplied background information, compose blogs on various topics for use on the website, as backflap articles and for eblasts
  • Synthesize complex issues and translate industry lingo/jargon into easily understood articles
  • Proofread and edit content written by others when applicable

Other Writing Projects

  • Other projects include everything from press releases to CVs to web content or other writing projects, as needed


  • Strong attention to detail and deadline driven; must be able to multi-task and excel in a diverse and fast-paced atmosphere with short timelines and multiple priorities
  • Bachelor's degree or above
  • At least three years of proposal/business writing experience (education and/or verifiable skills may be considered for substitution)
  • Previous experience in professional services (accounting, legal, etc.) desired
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Experience with keyword research as it relates to SEO performance a plus


  • Excellent English, grammar, research, verbal and written communication; strategic thinking
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills for gathering input from pursuit team members and executive management
  • Strong time management, proofreading, and grammatical skills are critical
  • Ability to manage people, processes, and priorities in order to meet established deadlines
  • Strong sense of ownership on writing projects
  • Ability to use various software/computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite. InDesign and proposal development software a plus


  • Reports to Marketing Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer
  • Works closely with Marketing and other firm employees, as required

  • References will be required/verified

Minimal travel may be required
