Program Director
Position to over see Gold Country Soccer related programs. Organizational and administrative skills a must. Soccer or other related coaching experience preferred.
Job Description
The Gold Country Youth Soccer League (GCYSL) Program Director must be passionate and motivated to lead successful soccer programs and activities at GCYSL. Sports programming at GCYSL must be managed with a high level of coordination and communication with stakeholder, including parents, youth, coaches, and community partners including schools and parks and recreation districts. This position will facilitate and promote youth soccer in Nevada County, leading program quality, safety, and participant satisfaction to foster a vibrant youth soccer league in Nevada County in coordination with GCSL Board.
Time and Salary Range:
1100-1400 Hours/year ---- $20- $25 per/Hour – Depending on Experience
Major Responsibilities
Program Management
Administrative responsibility for all recreation and club level soccer programming, including:
• Registration- Coordinate with appropriate Board Positions
• Game schedules- Coordinate with appropriate Board Positions
• Practice schedules
• Book field/space requests for regular season play, off-season training, etc.
• Hire, train and schedule referees, ensure compliance- Coordinate Board of Directors
• Summer Camps- Coordinate with Board of Directors
• Winter Clinics- Coordinate with Board of Directors
• Coaching Clinics- Coordinate with Board of Directors
• Coordinate Maintenance of facilities and equipment (i.e. nets, port-a-potties, sheds, etc.)
• Develop equipment use plan to update/replace aging gear as needed
• Represent GCYSL at all required regional meetings for NorCal, including the AGM
• Implement and enforce policies, procedures and guidelines with referees, coaches, junior camp counselors, parents, players
• Manage approved budget and take appropriate action to correct variances in conjunction with board treasurer
• Ensure ongoing communication with players/parents and coaches of GCYSL in conjunction with board members (communications person, rec coaching director, registrar).
Communication includes timely announcements, alerts, responses from families and coaches, etc.
• Oversee ordering of all necessary supplies for GCYSL/GCU, including uniforms, promotional items, office supplies, equipment, banners, flyers, etc.
• Responsible for obtaining all necessary insurance certificates for both GCYSL and GCU
Strategic Management
Oversight and implementation of strategies to continue improving program quality, in coordination with the GCYSL Board of Directors, including:
• Plans for effective player outreach for recruitment and retention.
• Perform ongoing assessment and evaluation of programming; and devise program changes and/or enhancements as needed.
• Conduct ongoing assessment and evaluation of coaches, identifying ways to improve and enhance education and outreach for coaches.
• Identify and implement improved programming to meet the needs of youth and community (e.g. Elite Rec training program, lead connections with local middle schools and Nevada Union for stronger transition from club to high school sports).
• Represent GCYSL in the community and develop positive working relationships with organizations, business and governmental entities.
• Coordinate with GCYSL Board on rules and compliance.
• Promote and uphold GCYSL core values, including diversity and inclusion.
• Continue to develop highlight gender equity.
• Fundraising – research and apply for grant opportunities, events and activities that will provide additional funding to drive programming and offset administrative costs
• Foster relationships with NorCal and other regional clubs (create goodwill between organizations, identify sources for outside training for club-level coaches, etc.)
• Actively work with club-level coaches to get a minimum standard of a grassroots license, while promoting and supporting efforts to further their training to Class D or above.
Additional Responsibilities
1. Participate in regular board meetings.
2. Supervise, train and support staff and volunteers, develop, plan and implement new procedures, systems and methods to promote program growth, safety, member satisfaction and member retention through program participation and facility excellence.
3. Coordinate marketing and communication efforts to maximize enrollments and program participation.
4. Identify and resolve program problem areas to support stakeholder satisfaction.
5. Submit monthly director operation reports to the board in advance of regularly scheduled meetings.
6. Complete additional duties as assigned by the supervising board
7. Maintain First Aid / CPR certifications
Qualifications
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
2. Able to effectively give oral presentations, direct and organize large program meetings.
3. Working knowledge of computers and software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, and related soccer programs.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of soccer programming and equipment.
5. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
6. Demonstrated customer service and public relations.
7. US Soccer Licensing requirement continuing education towards a minimum of C license or other approved trainings.
8. Safe Sport Concussion protocols in accordance with NorCal regulations
