Qualifications
For consideration, applicants must submit proof of two years post high school education consisting of 60 semester or 90-quarter credit hours from an accredited college or university with their application. In lieu of this, proof of Firefighter I & II certifications from the State of Iowa must be submitted and 5 years of public safety experience, including Firefighter or Police Officer experience, is required. Candidates must also: meet the minimum hiring standards of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) and successfully complete entry testing; possess, or have the ability to obtain and maintain, a valid Iowa driver's license with good driving record; and successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment physical exam including drug screen, background investigation, and polygraph exam. Note: Applicants hired with the above college/university credits but without a State of Iowa Firefighter I certification will be required to obtain this within 3 years from their employment date.
Special Requirements
Testing will be completed in Cedar Falls on Saturday, February 5 at 9:00 a.m. at the Public Safety Services building located at 4600 South Main Street. Candidates will be informed of their eligibility/approval to test early April and additional information will be provided to complete and return to testing. Equal Opportunity Employer
