Library Assistant I 36 ($16.22-$$19.72) per hour
Library Assistant II 37B ($17.47-$21.24) per hour
Library Assistant III 39B ($19.25-$23.40) per hour
Alpine County is currently recruiting for the position of Library Assistant I-II-III under general supervision, to perform a variety of library clerical and technical work; and to perform related duties as assigned.
Library Assistant I: This is the entry-level classification in the Library Assistant series. Incumbents perform the more routine duties and work under close supervision.
Library Assistant II: This is the journey-level classification in the Library Assistant series. Incumbents are expected to perform a wide variety of library clerical and technical duties with only occasional instruction or assistance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by coursework in library skills or related field.
Experience: A Masters of Library and Information Science degree may be substituted for experience requirements in both classifications.
Library Assistant I: Any combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be: One (1) year of general office assistance work experience or completion of office skills training courses.
Library Assistant II: Two years of technical and clerical library experience
Library Assistant III: Two years of experience as a Library Assistant II in Alpine County, or four years of progressively responsible technical and clerical library experience. Must possess a valid driver's license.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: 100% FTE in a five step salary system with advancement upon satisfactory completion of a one year probationary period and annual increases thereafter.
Health Insurance: County provides medical, dental and vision coverage for employee with co-payment by employee, based on family status.
Vacation: Accrued at the rate of 6.67 hours per month, or 10 vacation days per year.
Sick Leave: Earned at the rate of 8 hours per month.
Holidays: 15 paid holidays per year.
Retirement: Participation in the California Public Employee Retirement System (PERS), New Members 2% at 62 plan
Deferred Compensation: the County has a voluntary deferred compensation program.
